Sudan complains officially to UN over who report on mortality in Darfur

KHARTOUM, Oct 23, 2004 (SUNA) — Sudan government has officially forwarded complaints to each of the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, and the General Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) over the recent report of WHO, which claimed that 70,000 have died in Darfur region,.

The federal Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Bilal made this statement at a press conference organized Saturday by Al-Bir and Solidarity Foundation, in collaboration with the federal Ministry of Health on the occasion of inauguration of model maternity health centres in different states.

Dr. Bilal said that the current health situation at the displaced people camps in Darfur is by far better than the health conditions in other areas. He affirmed the government concern with the work of the national organizations.

Meanwhile, the Wife of the First Vice President, Ustaza Fatima Al-Amin, the Secretary General of the organization, has affirmed the organization’s concern with the issue of women health.
