The decision came in appreciation of the efforts exerted and contacts made by Arab League Secretary-General Amr Musa since the outbreak of the crisis, his spokesman Hussam Zaki said Tuesday.

He asserted that the objective stances taken by the pan-Arab organization had been highly appreciated by all international parties concerned with the Darfur crisis.

Zaki said the Arab League will now become member of all three international mechanisms following up the situation in Sudan’s troubled region.

Members in the cease-fire monitoring committee are the African Union, Chad, Libya, Nigeria in addition to the US, France, Britain, the EU, the UN and now the Arab League.
