South Sudan leader in talks with Egyptian intelligence chief
CAIRO, Feb 8, 2005 (SMC) — SPLM leader John Garang today met the Egyptian intelligence chief, Omar Suleiman. Well informed sources refused to divulge details of the meeting to SMC (Sudanese Media Centre).
However, they said the meeting had tackled the implementation stage of the peace agreement as well as the agreement between the government and the opposition NDA (National Democratic Alliance).
At the same time, sources from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the celebration of the signing of the peace agreement between the government and the NDA would be postponed.
The ceremony was scheduled to take place on 12 February. John Garang will attend this event.
