Detention of Dr Mudawi Ibrahim Adam and colleagues
Sudan Social Development Organization (SUDO)
Since SUDO’s last press release (February 24, 2005) Dr Mudawi has been transferred to the hospital. Now he is no longer on hunger strike. His health situation is improving.
According to the Prosecutor of Crimes against the State, Dr Mudawi isn’t accused of any crimes of such nature, he may be charged against Article 133 of the Criminal Law for intending to commit suicide (hunger strike). Please be advised that a number of press releases stated other wise, notably the Ghazy Suliman’s one, which stated false facts.
The Prosecutor of the Crimes Against the State announced that, if Dr. Mudawi is cleared or not of the current charges, he will not be released and will be retuned back to the security authorities.
Hence, the case of Dr. Mudawi should strongly be highlighted with the case of Mr. Salah who was arrested with him. SUDO and his family do not know Mr. Salah where about. To mention also the case of Mr. Adeeb Abd Al Rahman, the manager of SUDO’s Office in Zalegi (Darfur), who has been arrested in Khartoum on September 20, 2004. Up-to -now we don’t know his place or if he is alive or not.
