First Vice President affirms Govt concern with advencement of women

Sept 5, 2005 (Khartoum) — First Vice President of the Republic, Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, affirmed the government’s commitment to the advancement and empowerment of Women in Sudan.

The First Vice President Gen. Mayardit who received the UN’s Secretary General Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women, Rachel N. Mayanja, at his office at the Republican Palace Monday, expressed appreciation for the sacrifices of the Sudanese Women and their effective contributions and support to the peace process and stability of the country.

The UN official praised the continued commitment of the Sudanese government to the issues and rights of Women and women causes.
