Arab League chief to visit Sudan in early March
Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismail, said that he received a telephone call from the AL secretary- general, during which they discussed the progress of the peace process in Sudan and the meeting of Arab foreign ministers which will specifically discuss reforms within the AL.
Ismail added Musa will visit the country before the Arab summit to be held in Tunis in March. This will give him the opportunity to evaluate and present a report on the situation in Sudan and what Arab assistance can be provided through AL.
The minister lauded Amr Musa for providing an impetus to the peace process in the country and for the promotion of joint Arab achievements, stressing Sudan’s readiness and contribution to the success of the next Arab summit.

The Arab League’s special envoy to the Sudanese peace process Nadia Makram-Ebeid resigned last November. She indicated that when AL had requested observer status at the talks in August, Khartoum and the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Army agreed, but IGAD never responded.
