Burhan reiterates accusations of foreign support for RSF
March 21, 2025 (AL-MAFAZA, Gederaf state) – The Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, on Friday vigorously reiterated accusations against unnamed countries of providing modern weapons and drones to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Sudanese army and government leaders have repeatedly accused the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of providing military support to the RSF, which has been fighting against the Sudanese army since April 2023.
Sudanese authorities have previously filed complaints against the UAE with the UN Security Council and have also filed a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice, accusing Abu Dhabi of complicity in the genocide against the Masalit ethnicity in West Darfur State.
Speaking at a condolence ceremony for the director of military media, Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Ibrahim, in the “Qalbi” area of Al-Mafaza locality in Gedaref State, Al-Burhan said, “The militia has weapons and drones that a militia cannot possess unless countries provide them with this weapon.”
He added that the generations to come must not forgive their deeds.
“The Sudanese people must have a clear stance towards the countries that supply (the RSF) with weapons from today until a thousand years from now. The blood shed must not be wasted, and we must not abandon it.”
Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Ibrahim was killed along with a number of military media personnel and four members of the national television crew in a drone strike that targeted the Presidential Palace during media coverage for the recapture of the premises of the head of state on Friday.
Al-Burhan reiterated the army’s determination to continue fighting until the RSF is eliminated, adding, “We will not deviate from the path of the martyrs, and we are determined to end this rebellion and fight until the criminals and killers are eradicated.”
He added, “There will be no negotiations unless they hand over their weapons and gather in camps… but as long as they are fighting, besieging El Fasher, and terrorizing citizens, there is no peace for them.”
The Sudanese army announced early Friday that it had taken control of the Presidential Palace and all government institutions in the central Khartoum area after days of fierce battles against the Rapid Support Forces.
