Sudan orders evacuation of its nationals from Iran amid Israeli strikes
June 14, 2025 (PORT SUDAN) – Sudan’s Prime Minister Kamel Idris ordered the country’s ambassador in Tehran to carry out a safe evacuation of all Sudanese nationals from Iran, the state news agency reported, as Israel conducted a series of intense airstrikes on Iranian cities.
The evacuation order comes amid fears of a spiralling regional conflict after Tehran launched long-range missiles at targets in Tel Aviv, prompting retaliatory Israeli air raids on several Iranian cities, including the capital, Tehran.
According to the official Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Idris spoke by phone with Sudan’s ambassador to Iran, Abdel Aziz Hassan Salih, and directed him to “attend to the Sudanese community, assess their conditions, and work on the safe evacuation of all nationals in coordination with the relevant authorities.”
The report added that the prime minister was reassured of the well-being of the head and members of the diplomatic mission and the wider Sudanese community in Iran.
On Friday, Sudan’s foreign ministry condemned the Israeli attacks on Iran as “unjust aggression that poses a serious threat to international peace and security,” and called on the United Nations and the Security Council to take urgent measures to stop the attacks on Tehran.
Israel on Saturday launched scattered attacks on a series of targets in several regions of Iran. The attacks, which entered their second day amid growing human and material losses, have killed dozens, according to Iranian officials.
In East Azerbaijan province, Governor Bahram Sarmast told state television that Israeli attacks on 19 locations, including 12 in the city of Tabriz, had killed 31 people, including 30 soldiers and a Red Crescent employee, and wounded 55 others.
Separately, Iranian authorities had earlier reported that 60 civilians and two senior military staff members were killed in an attack on a residential complex in Tehran.
