Shelling hits Sudan’s Dilling, drone strike kills civilians in South Kordofan

October 11, 2025 (DILLING) – Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) shelled the city of Dilling in South Kordofan on Saturday, while a separate drone strike blamed on the RSF and its ally, the SPLM-North, killed several civilians in a nearby area, eyewitnesses and a local rights group said.

Witnesses told Sudan Tribune that artillery fire from the RSF struck the eastern al-Safa neighbourhood of Dilling. Separately, the Sudan Doctors’ Network said shelling by the allied Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) injured 11 people in the city, three of them critically.

The Nuba Mountains Platform, a local advocacy group, reported that a joint RSF and SPLM-N drone strike on the Dalami area had resulted in civilian deaths and injuries.

The two allied forces have imposed a blockade on Dilling and the nearby city of Kadugli, preventing supplies and crops from entering and causing a widespread hunger crisis, residents say.

The Sudanese army is attempting to break the siege by advancing on several fronts from neighbouring North Kordofan in an effort to cut RSF supply lines.

In a separate development, the Nuba Mountains Platform accused the SPLM-N of detaining civilians, including university students, women, and children, in its controlled territories. The group stated that the SPLM-N permits traders to enter its areas but restricts residents from leaving for educational or medical purposes.

The platform threatened to block commercial goods from entering SPLM-N areas unless the detainees were freed and aid was allowed into Dilling and Kadugli.

The blockade forces some residents to undertake a perilous, month-long journey to reach government-held towns, a trip that would normally take only four hours, the group said.
