Sudanese army drone strike kills 16 civilians in North Darfur, local leaders say

October 11, 2025 (AL-KUMA) – At least 16 civilians were killed in a Sudanese army drone strike on Saturday in the town of Al-Kuma, east of El Fasher in North Darfur, local community leaders said.

The town, which is controlled by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has been frequently targeted by the army. Community leaders say it has been hit by over 150 airstrikes that have killed dozens of civilians and destroyed water sources, service facilities, and the main market.

A community leader, in a video posted on social media, said the drone struck as residents gathered for a meeting to discuss local issues.

“The army is targeting civilians in populated neighbourhoods,” the speaker said, calling on the international community to intervene to stop what he described as the systematic targeting of citizens who are not involved in the war.

In May, the army and the RSF exchanged accusations over an attack on a World Food Programme (WFP) convoy in Al-Kuma that killed five aid workers.
