RSF expands drone attacks in Sudan, hits power station in Sinnar

October 25, 2025 (SENNAR) – Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Friday expanded their drone attacks to Sinja, the capital of Sennar state, for the first time, striking a power station and causing an outage, official sources said.

The paramilitary force also launched drone strikes on the city of Sennar, damaging civilian infrastructure, the sources added.

The attacks mark an escalation in the RSF’s use of drones against cities controlled by the Sudanese army. Over the past week, the RSF repeatedly attacked Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile state, and Sennar city. Khartoum’s international airport was also targeted by a drone for the fourth time on Friday.

In a statement, the Blue Nile state government said its capital, Damazin, was attacked for a third time early on Friday but that the army’s Fourth Infantry Division repelled the strike. Two civilians were injured in the attack, it said.

Last week, an RSF drone strike hit the main power station near the Roseires Dam in Damazin, causing power and water shortages.

The Sudanese Electricity Holding Company confirmed Friday’s attack on the Sinja power substation.

In a statement, the company said the facility was targeted by drones, “which may cause a disruption of service,” and that technical teams would assess the damage from what it described as a “brutal assault.”
