U.S., Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE form joint committee on Sudan

October 25, 2025 (WASHINGTON) – The United States, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to form a Joint Operational Committee to coordinate efforts for peace in Sudan, according to a statement from a senior U.S. official.

The agreement was reached during a Quad meeting in Washington on Friday, hosted by the United States. The committee’s purpose is to advance collective efforts to secure an urgent humanitarian truce, achieve a permanent ceasefire, and halt external support for the warring factions.

The members also aim to advance a transition to civilian governance in the conflict-ridden nation.

In the meeting, the four countries reaffirmed their commitment to the principles outlined in their September 12 ministerial statement. They agreed that the new committee would strengthen coordination on these urgent priorities.

“POTUS wants peace and we are united in our commitment to ending the suffering of the Sudanese people,” said Massad Boulos, U.S. Senior Advisor for African Affairs, in the statement released after the meeting.
