October 30, 2025 (PORT SUDAN) – Sudan’s prime minister on Thursday declared a state of alert across all government institutions and foreign missions in response to alleged atrocities committed in El Fasher and Bara.

The move comes after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) captured the North Darfur capital of El Fasher on Oct. 26 and allegedly launched a wide-ranging revenge campaign. The government said the campaign included the killing of 2,000 civilians, the execution of prisoners, and the killing of 460 patients at the Saudi Hospital.

In an address to the Sudanese people, Prime Minister Kamil Idris declared a “full alert with El Fasher, Bara, and all parts of Sudan to stop ethnic cleansing, genocide, and the crimes of murder, slaughter, war, and torture.”

He called on Sudanese people to unite against what he described as brutal aggression targeting the entire nation.

Idris said the state of alert included ministries, government units, and diplomatic missions, which he directed to confront the aggression. He stated that the atrocities in El Fasher “exceeded the limits of description and endurance,” describing the scenes of mass killing and torture as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The prime minister called on the U.N. Security Council, influential nations, and regional organizations to assume their responsibilities to end a “tragic absurdity that threatens the lives of millions of civilians and the future of the entire region.”

He stressed the need to stop the ongoing violations, protect civilians, and hold accountable those who planned, financed, and carried out the criminal acts in El Fasher, adding that Sudan is not “an arena for settling scores.”

RSF fighters have been accused of committing continuous crimes in El Fasher since the first attack on the city on May 11, 2025, including the destruction of civilian infrastructure like water sources and health facilities.
