October 31, 2025 (KHARTOUM) – Mohamed Hassan al-Taishi, the prime minister of the parallel government ‘Tasis’ formed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), called on Friday for an “immediate and unconditional” ceasefire in Sudan, appealing to all humanitarian organizations for urgent intervention to provide aid to those affected.

In a video statement broadcast on social media, Taishi explained that this call comes “in accordance with the proposal of the Quad mechanism.” He emphasised the need to establish “opening urgent humanitarian corridors” to ensure the delivery of food, medicine, and shelter to civilians. In this context, he revealed that his government has established the “National Authority for Humanitarian Access” and appointed a minister to lead it.

Taishi’s statement came days after the fall of El Fasher to the RSF last Sunday, which the ‘Tasis’ prime minister described as a “resounding victory” that also led to the capture of Bara. Taishi announced that the entire Darfur region “is coming under the control of the Tasis government.” In contrast, following the fall of El Fasher, the head of the Sovereign Council, officials, and leaders of armed movements had declared the continuation of the war until the elimination of the RSF.

Responding to reports of war crimes and grave violations, Taishi acknowledged that “events and incidents” occurred in El Fasher but considered them “isolated individuals” that do not reflect government policy, pledging to hold the perpetrators accountable. These remarks come as local and international reports speak of wide-scale human rights violations committed by the RSF during its attacks on El Fasher, including mass killings, rapes, and the killing of more than 460 patients at the El Fasher maternity hospital.
