Announcement Journalism Fellowship in “Accountability and Human Rights Monitoring”

Fellowship Duration: 3 months (December 2025 – 28 February 2026)
Location: Remote/Field-based (open to Sudanese journalists inside Sudan, as well as those in
Egypt, Uganda, Ethiopia, Chad, and South Sudan)
Number of Fellows: 8 journalists

Project Background
In response to the severe information vacuum and media blackout caused by the ongoing war,
Sudan Tribune is launching a specialized reporting network to restore the flow of reliable
information, document human rights violations, and counter systematic disinformation. We are
seeking eight (8) experienced journalists to join this intensive short-term fellowship.

Fellowship Responsibilities (Scope of Work)
Selected fellows will work within a Joint Newsroom to produce high-impact, multimedia-
supported stories with verified accuracy. Responsibilities include:
1. Investigative Journalism
Preparing in-depth reports focused on human rights violations, accountability issues, and
humanitarian conditions.
2. Information Verification
Collaborating to verify videos, reports, and claims in order to counter organized disinformation
campaigns.
3. Training and Development
Participating in virtual training sessions on:
 Trauma-informed reporting
 Comprehensive professional safety

 Investigative reporting techniques

Eligibility Criteria & Requirements
Geographic Location
Applicants must be Sudanese journalists currently located:
 Inside Sudan (in conflict or safe areas), or
 In the diaspora: Egypt, Uganda, Ethiopia, Chad, or South Sudan.
Professional Experience
A demonstrated track record in covering human rights, conflict, or social issues.
Legal Compliance
 No professional convictions related to fraud, bribery, or corruption within the past three
years.
Language
Fluency in Arabic is essential. English proficiency is an added advantage.

Provision of “journalist go-kits” and technical resources as needed, depending on location.

2. Work Samples: Two (2) links to previously published journalistic work (preferably
related to human rights or conflict).

location, your ability to work safely, and your reporting capacity.
