Twelve killed, 19 wounded in army drone strike on South Kordofan

December 26, 2025 (KHARTOUM) – Twelve civilians were killed and 19 others injured in a Sudanese army drone strike on the “Biyam Jald” area in South Kordofan State on Friday, the Foundation Alliance and the SPLM-N said.

Reports by rival groups, which have not been independently verified, say the strike targeted a gathering of Christians celebrating Christmas in the town. The area is currently under the control of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) faction led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu.

The Foundation Alliance — a coalition including the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the SPLM-N, and various Darfur movements — said in a statement that the majority of the casualties were women and children.

“The systematic targeting of civilians during Christmas celebrations confirms to the world that our country is facing organized terrorism and extremist groups,” the alliance said. It urged the international community to condemn the attack, alleging the military is acting on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood.

In a separate statement, the SPLM-N described the bombing as a “deliberate act of terrorism.” It said the ongoing conflict, directed by the “Port Sudan authority,” is a war against “life and coexistence.”

The Sudanese military did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The alliance stated its commitment to establishing a secular civil state under the 2025 Sudan Constitution, which guarantees equal rights for all citizens.
