Sudan, Chad accuse RSF of cross-border drone attack
December 27, 2025 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese and Chadian militaries on Saturday accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of carrying out an attack on a military position inside Chad, along the border with Sudan.
Two Chadian soldiers were killed on Friday in a drone strike targeting a military outpost in the town of Tine, located in Chad’s Wadi Fira region.
The Chadian military leadership, according to Agence France-Presse, accused the RSF of launching a bloody attack on a border town. However, the Chadian army leadership issued a formal communiqué regarding the incident but did not accuse the Sudanese paramilitary of committing the drone attack.
In his statement, the Chadian Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces denounced this incursion into national territory and condemned “this unjustified aggression against a position of the National Army and the territorial integrity of Chad”.
The Chadian general “considers this act of hostility, reprehensible under international law, as an intentional and manifestly deliberate attack and warns the belligerents of the Sudanese conflict, inviting them to respect the sovereignty of Chad strictly,” stressed the statement.
For its part, the office of the Sudanese army spokesperson said in a statement that the Sudanese Armed Forces followed the targeting of the Tine garrison in the Republic of Chad by a drone belonging to the RSF militia.
The Sudanese army “extended condolences to the leadership and people of Chad and to the families of the victims, declaring support for Chad against threats to regional stability”.
The army noted that the Sudanese side of Tine is under its full control, with all civil and security state institutions operating regularly, and insisted that no hostile activities toward neighbouring territories have originated from there.
The town of Tine is divided into two parts, one in Sudan and the other in Chad. It serves as a commercial gateway and a corridor for people fleeing violence to reach safe camps.
The Sudanese army stated that the RSF has habitually used drones to carry out cross-border hostile acts in an attempt to create tension between Sudan and neighbouring countries. “The statement stressed the need to activate joint coordination mechanisms between Sudan and Chad, specifically the joint forces and border security committees, to ensure border control”.
The RSF has been seeking to control Tine following attacks on areas in northwestern Darfur, including Ambru, Abu Gamra, and Karnoi.
Meanwhile, the RSF-led Tasis, an alliance of armed g and political groups, denied launching the attack on the Chadian military site and instead accused the Sudanese army of carrying out the shelling.
