Sudanese army says destroyed RSF drones and air defence systems
February 10 2026 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese army on Tuesday said it had destroyed drones and air defence systems belonging to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), amid allegations of foreign involvement in the ongoing conflict.
The United Arab Emirates has faced accusations of providing drones to the RSF, which have been used to target civilian and military sites within areas controlled by the military.
Media reports had previously indicated that the RSF had installed advanced air defence systems at Nyala airport and around the city of El Fasher before their fall. These systems were also deployed across large parts of the Kordofan region, where they contributed to the downing of several Sudanese army aircraft.
Armed forces spokesperson Brigadier General Assim Awad stated that units were able to monitor and destroy a number of hostile drones and their supporting systems with high precision. Speaking to the Al-Sudani newspaper, Awad noted that the operations targeted warehouses and operating units for drones as part of a strategy to dismantle the non-conventional aerial capabilities utilized by the RSF.
The spokesperson published images showing the destruction of Chinese-made CH-95 drones, which the RSF had deployed in Darfur and Kordofan. The military also reported the destruction of FK-2000 air defence systems that had been positioned to bolster defensive capabilities against army airstrikes.
Military sources said the operation of these advanced systems and drones is supported by foreign experts in Darfur and Kordofan, an effort intended to compensate for the RSF’s lack of conventional air power.
Operations have recently escalated significantly in the Kordofan region. The army recently reported ending the siege imposed by an alliance of the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement on the cities of Kadugli and Dilling in South Kordofan state.
Following their retreat from the national road leading to the state capital, the RSF has resorted to intensive drone use. These strikes have targeted supply routes, humanitarian aid convoys, and medical facilities, resulting in the deaths of dozens of civilians.
