Civilian deaths reported in RSF drone strike on Blue Nile’s locality
February 14, 2026 (ED DAMAZIN) -Civilian casualties were reported on Saturday following a drone strike by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied elements of the SPLM-N Joseph Tuka faction on the headquarters of the Qeisan locality in Sudan’s southeastern Blue Nile region, local sources and officials said.
The RSF has increased the frequency of drone attacks on towns and villages near the Ethiopian border. The escalation follows failed attempts by the paramilitary group and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) to seize the strategic town of Kurmuk.
The Humanitarian Aid Commission in the Blue Nile Region issued a statement on Saturday strongly condemning the assault on civilian targets in the Bakouri area of Qeisan. According to the commission, the drones also targeted the premises of the Kalsotium Organization, a non-profit humanitarian facility that local residents rely on for essential aid.
Qisma Abdelkarim Daldoum, Deputy Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid, said the attack on a humanitarian service provider demonstrated a “clear disregard for the lives of civilians.”
The commission dismissed the RSF’s claims of targeting only military sites and characterized the militia’s declared commitment to a humanitarian truce as a “claim detached from reality” intended to gain international sympathy while continuing to violate humanitarian norms.
Despite the strikes, the commission sought to reassure citizens and international organizations that the situation remained stable. It credited the Sudanese Armed Forces and supporting units for maintaining security and preventing the region from being dragged into further chaos.
Military sources said Sudanese army drones carried out heavy strikes against SPLM-N positions led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu in Yabus, a remote town near the South Sudanese border. The army also targeted mobile RSF units near Malkan in the Bau locality.
The Sudanese government has accused Ethiopia of providing training and logistical support to both the RSF and the SPLM-N. An investigative report published by Reuters last week provided evidence supporting these claims.
