SPLM-N says Sudanese army airstrike kills seven at South Kordofan funeral
March 27, 2026 (AL SUNUT) – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) said on Friday that a Sudanese army airstrike killed seven civilians and injured 39 others in the town of Al Sunut in South Kordofan.
A statement from the group said the strike targeted a funeral gathering in the Kasha area of Al Sunut.
The movement reported that the Al Sunut area has been hit by three separate airstrikes this week. It claimed the attacks have killed more than 60 people and injured over 100 others, including children and the elderly.
Local sources told Sudan Tribune that army drones also targeted positions held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the SPLM-N on the mountain range west of Dilling, the state’s second-largest city.
The Sudanese army, the RSF, and the SPLM-N have been exchanging drone and heavy artillery fire in and around Dilling as the conflict spreads.
In the Darfur region, army drones struck RSF positions in several areas of West and North Darfur on Friday.
Sources said the strikes targeted mobilised forces allegedly preparing to attack the town of Tina in North Darfur. Hits were reported in the Jarjira and Abu Gamra areas.
