RSF-led administration accuses Sudanese army of drone strike in Central Darfur

March 28, 2026 (ZALINGEI) – The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) civil administration in Central Darfur on Saturday accused the Sudanese army of carrying out drone strikes on several locations in Zalingei, causing extensive damage to residential buildings.

The RSF has controlled six localities in Central Darfur, including the state capital Zalingei, since the early months of the conflict that began on April 15, 2023. Meanwhile, the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul Wahid al-Nur maintains control over three localities in the Jebel Marra region.

In a statement, the Central Darfur civil administration said it condemned in the strongest terms what it described as the Sudanese army’s targeting of innocent civilians in the eastern district of Zalingei.

The administration said the bombardment targeted homes in the eastern district and parts of the Khamsa Daqaiq camp for displaced persons, resulting in significant material losses to civilian property.

The statement added that the bombing of civilian objects and the intimidation of residents in their homes constituted a full-fledged crime requiring the severest penalties.

The RSF-led administration called on international organizations to penalize the Sudanese army and urged the imposition of a flight ban on the armed forces over RSF-controlled areas in the Darfur region.

The Sudanese army has expanded the scope of its aerial offensive in Darfur over recent months, with strikes causing numerous civilian casualties and destroying homes and service facilities.

The army has repeatedly denied targeting civilian sites, maintaining that its air raids are directed at RSF positions to degrade the paramilitary group’s defensive and offensive capabilities in the region.
