April 19, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese Employers Federation announced preparations for a Sudanese-Saudi business forum to be held in Riyadh this June to address investment challenges, primarily banking transfers between the two nations.

The upcoming forum marks the first major economic event of its kind since the outbreak of conflict in Sudan in April 2023. It follows a decision by the Saudi Council of Ministers last October to authorize a draft agreement for the establishment of a joint coordination council between the two countries.

In alignment with these diplomatic efforts, the Sudanese government has prepared approximately 100 strategic partnership projects with Saudi Arabia. These projects, with a total estimated cost exceeding $50 billion, span sectors including agriculture, energy, minerals, infrastructure, and technology.

Abdel Salam al-Qadi, Executive Director of the Sudanese Employers Federation, told Sudan Tribune that a delegation from the Saudi-based “Ranga” company recently visited Sudan to finalize arrangements. The event has secured official approvals from Saudi authorities and the Federation of Saudi Chambers.

The forum is expected to feature high-level political and economic leaders, alongside an exhibition of Sudanese and Saudi products. Key discussions will focus on the investment environment following recent legal amendments in Sudan and opportunities for public-private partnerships in post-war reconstruction.

Saudi Arabia currently leads Arab nations in investment volume in Sudan, with nearly $35.7 billion concentrated largely in 250 agricultural projects. Annual trade exchange between the two countries is estimated at $8 billion, driven largely by Saudi imports of Sudanese livestock and agricultural goods.

In November 2022, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced a commitment to inject $3 billion into investment projects in Sudan, with promises of further instalments to support the Sudanese economy.
