RSF drone attack kills five at Sudan’s Kosti fuel stations
May 5, 2026 (KOSTI) – At least five people were killed and nine others injured on Tuesday after a drone strike launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) hit two fuel stations in Kosti, White Nile State.
The Sudan Doctors Network confirmed the casualties in a statement, describing the strike as a deliberate attack on civilian infrastructure. The group condemned the incident as a violation of international humanitarian law.
Kosti, Rabak, and Kenana have faced intensified aerial operations by the RSF over the past week. Previous strikes have caused significant damage to service facilities and a local sugar factory.
Earlier on Tuesday, Sudanese army spokesperson Brigadier General Asim Awad claimed the military possesses evidence of external involvement in recent drone attacks.
Awad alleged that drones targeting positions in White Nile, Kordofan, and Khartoum states have originated from Bahir Dar airport in Ethiopia. He further accused both Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates of supporting the RSF aggression.
The Sudan Doctors Network called on the international community to hold RSF leadership accountable for crimes against civilians. It warned that continued targeting of essential services is exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis in the region.
