May 10, 2026 (NYALA) – The Sudanese army launched drone strikes against strategic Rapid Support Forces (RSF) positions in Nyala for the second consecutive day on Sunday, local sources said.

The attacks on the South Darfur capital coincided with the presence of RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, known as “Hemetti,” and several senior leaders in the city, which has been designated as the capital of the RSF’s parallel “Foundation Government.”

Sources told Sudan Tribune that at least three explosions rocked central Nyala, the international airport, and a site in the Al-Riyadh neighbourhood. The strikes also reportedly targeted an RSF training centre within the city.

Following the attacks, the RSF completely cut telecommunications within Nyala, according to sources cited by Al-Hadath TV.

The RSF has converted several civilian institutions in Nyala, including educational facilities, into assembly and training centres for both Sudanese and foreign fighters. These sites are reportedly used for training on combat tactics, drone operations, and air defence systems.

In September 2024, the RSF successfully reactivated Nyala Airport, which now receives flights almost daily. These flights reportedly originate from military bases in Chad, Libya, and Somaliland, facilities that are allegedly under United Arab Emirates (UAE) control.

The Sudanese army has periodically carried out airstrikes against the airport in an effort to disable its operations and disrupt the RSF’s supply lines.
