Sudan army chief pledges to regain total control of country
June 12, 2026 (AILAFOUN, Khartoum state) – Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan pledged on Friday to recapture all territories across Sudan and defeat paramilitary forces.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) currently control the Darfur region and West Kordofan state, as well as several enclaves in South Kordofan, North Kordofan, and the Blue Nile region.
Burhan stated that external actors and foreign circles are behind the ongoing war that broke out in April 2023. He promised to liberate Sudan and eliminate all enemies of the state.
Speaking to worshippers at the Sheikh Al-Khalifa Ali Barakat mosque in Ailafoun, located 30 km east of Khartoum state, Burhan expressed confidence that the Sudanese people’s determination would defeat foreign plots. He called on citizens to remain patient.
Burhan noted that the hardships and setbacks Sudan has experienced since the war began outweigh the current fuel and electricity crises affecting daily life.
The country is facing severe shortages of fuel and electricity supplies, compounded by a sharp depreciation of the local currency against foreign currencies.
The army chief praised the residents of Ailafoun for facilitating the delivery of supplies to the armed forces in Khartoum before the fall of Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Jazirah state.
He added that the local population played a key role in supporting the engineers’ corps station in the area, helping the army eventually regain control of the capital, Khartoum.
Burhan commended Sufi orders for spreading moderate Islamic teachings and avoiding extremism, highlighting their contribution to social cohesion and national unity.
The head of the Sovereign Council was accompanied during his visit to Ailafoun by Lieutenant General Mohamed Ali Sabir, the head of the military intelligence service.
