White Nile state governor inspects a damaged fuel station in Kosti after a drone strike on June 21, 2026

June 21, 2026 (KOSTI) – One civilian was killed, and 14 others were injured on Sunday in a drone strike launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeting a fuel station in Kosti, White Nile State authorities announced.

The RSF has recently intensified attacks on energy infrastructure in White Nile and neighbouring North Kordofan states. The strikes have destroyed several fuel stations, causing severe fuel shortages, particularly in the city of El Obeid.

A statement from the media office of the White Nile State governor said that the RSF targeted civilian installations in Kosti, including a fuel station, resulting in the casualties.

Following the attack, the state security committee, led by White Nile Governor Lieutenant General Qamar al-Din Mohamed Fadl al-Mawla, inspected the site and visited the injured at Kosti Hospital and the City Hospital.

Fadl al-Mawla condemned the strike, stating that targeting civilians and vital facilities has become the characteristic behaviour of the RSF. He added that the armed forces remain resilient and alert to counter the paramilitary group.

The governor strongly criticized internal and external backers of the RSF, accusing them of providing direct support with weapons and drones.

State Minister of Health and Social Development El Zein Saad Adam confirmed the initial casualty toll of one dead and 14 injured. He said that emergency medical procedures, including surgeries and blood transfusions, were administered to the victims.

Kosti, Rabak, and Kenana in White Nile State have faced repeated drone attacks by the RSF over recent months, focusing heavily on utility and energy infrastructure.

Kosti holds strategic importance for the Sudanese army, serving as a primary logistical hub connecting central Sudan to the west. It plays a critical role in supporting military operations in the Kordofan and Darfur regions and in securing supply lines to the capital, Khartoum.
