Sudan aid commission says RSF attacked relief convoy bound for El Obeid

June 27, 2026 (EL OBEID) – Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Saturday of targeting an aid truck travelling to El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state, killing one driver and injuring others.

The commission said in a statement that the RSF attacked the humanitarian truck near the town of El Rahad on Friday evening. The vehicle was carrying 50 tons of flour intended to alleviate suffering in El Obeid, but the shipment was nearly destroyed.

The RSF has recently intensified attacks on fuel stations in El Obeid, as well as humanitarian convoys and commercial vehicles along the main national highway connecting North Kordofan with White Nile state, aiming to create a fuel crisis and severe commodity shortages.

The Sudanese aid agency condemned the incident as a continuation of the systematic targeting of relief convoys, aimed at blocking aid from reaching those in need.

The commission emphasized that the attack represents a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law by depriving millions of eligible civilians of essential relief guaranteed under international frameworks.

The statement called on the United Nations and the international community to condemn the incident and hold the RSF accountable for hindering relief operations.

The RSF has long sought control of El Obeid, the largest city in the Kordofan region, positioning its forces around the southern, northern, and western outskirts, despite widespread warnings from regional and international authorities against an assault on the strategic hub.
