July 25, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – Authorities in Khartoum State filed 4,792 criminal cases, arrested 2,820 suspects, and deported 178 foreign nationals as part of an ongoing security operation to restore public order, officials said Saturday.

The crackdown follows growing public concern over neighbourhood safety, rising theft, and illicit drug activity across several areas of the state.

Interior Minister Babiker Samra Mustafa chaired the eleventh meeting of the Security Control and State Authority Enforcement Committee to evaluate progress and coordinate action among various military and police branches.

Media committee head Fath al-Rahman Mohamed al-Tom said military police are deploying to key intersections, bridges, and city access points to regulate military personnel movement and curb unauthorized armed presences within urban zones.

Central Control Room chief Siraj al-Din Mansour Khalid reported that security patrols across several localities helped stabilize the general situation, leading to thousands of arrests and legal proceedings.

Officials also impounded 15,728 abandoned or unauthorized vehicles across the capital region. Authorities urged owners who lost vehicles to contact traffic departments and local prosecutors to retrieve them free of charge.

As part of urban enforcement efforts, task forces carried out 4,064 demolitions of illegal structures and issued over 15,500 warning notices in informal settlement zones.

Separate operations targeting undocumented foreign residents led to four security sweeps, resulting in the detention and deportation of 178 individuals under statutory procedures.
