July 27, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) systematically looted rural medical facilities in the Jabrat al-Sheikh area and transformed its main hospital into a military barracks, the Sudanese Doctors Network said.

Video footage reviewed by the network following the Sudanese Armed Forces’ recapture of the town revealed extensive destruction to the facility. Medical departments were ransacked and vandalized, including solar panels, during the period of RSF control, rendering the hospital completely out of service and depriving thousands of civilians of essential healthcare.

The doctors’ group strongly condemned the targeting and militarization of health facilities, describing the conversion of hospitals into operational headquarters as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

The network urged the RSF to refrain from using medical infrastructure for military purposes, respect the neutrality of healthcare institutions, and call for those responsible for the destruction of the Jabrat al-Sheikh hospital to be held accountable.

The operation comes amid a series of sweeping military victories by the Sudanese Armed Forces and allied Joint Forces across North Kordofan. Heavy fighting over the weekend resulted in the military regaining control of several strategic towns, including Bara, Um Sayala, Um Qurfa, and Jabrat al-Sheikh, effectively securing vital export routes and supply corridors toward the state capital of El Obeid.
