Hemetti grants RSF commanders autonomy to launch attacks after Kordofan losses
July 27, 2026 (NAIROBI) – Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemetti” said on Monday that field commanders will now have full autonomy to initiate offensive operations without waiting for central orders.
The statement follows major military setbacks suffered by RSF troops in North Kordofan state, where the Sudanese army and allied forces cleared key areas and secured a strategic export highway linking the region to Khartoum.
Hemetti announced the shift during a brief statement after a security meeting with coalition partners from the Sudan Founding Coalition, declaring that operational control now rests directly with frontline forces.
He stated that he would lead forces from the front in expected battles, urging troops to purge their ranks of suspected fifth-columnists and adjust their combat tactics.
The RSF leader also strictly prohibited filming during military operations, warning that anyone violating the ban would be treated as an enemy collaborator.
