RSF drones target power stations across four Sudanese states
October 26, 2026 (AL-FAW/EL GENEID) – Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drones bombed power stations on Monday in central Sudan’s Al Jazirah and Sennar states, eastern Gedaref, and southern White Nile, causing widespread power outages.
Drones struck the El Geneid transformer station in eastern Al Jazirah state at 2:30 a.m. local time, knocking the facility out of service, sources at the El Geneid sugar factory told Sudan Tribune.
The paramilitary force also attempted to strike strategic fuel depots in Um Alila in eastern Al Jazirah without causing casualties.
It was the second attack on the Um Alila facility, which previously caught fire following a drone strike in September.
In neighbouring Sennar state, an RSF drone attacked the Singa transformer station on Monday morning, the state government said in a statement.
The attack caused material damage and injured security guards, who were transferred for medical treatment.
Kamikaze drones also targeted the Al-Faw and Al-Hawata power stations in eastern Gedaref state, severing the local electricity supply, a security source told Sudan Tribune.
In the southern White Nile state, an RSF drone targeted the Mashkour power station, causing further regional outages, local sources reported.
The strikes follow a similar attack last week, when an RSF drone bombed the Tendelti power station in western White Nile state.
That attack ignited a fire and cut power to Tendelti and cities across North Kordofan state.
The RSF did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The paramilitary group has intensified its use of kamikaze and strategic drones in recent days to target fuel reserves and power infrastructure.
The escalating strikes have heavily impacted critical facilities across North Kordofan, Gedaref, Al Jazirah and White Nile states.
The RSF has been at war with the Sudanese army since April 2023 in a conflict that has killed thousands and displaced millions.
