Drones target fuel, power facilities in Sudan’s Al Managil and Haya
October 28, 2026 (HAYA/AL MANAGIL, Sudan) – Suspected Rapid Support Forces drones struck a power plant and fuel depots in central and eastern Sudan early on Wednesday, causing widespread blackouts and igniting fires near critical infrastructure, local sources said.
The dawn strikes hit a power generation facility, a fuel distribution station, and a storage depot in Al Managil town in Gezira state.
Civil defence crews extinguished the resulting blazes, and residents speaking to Sudan Tribune said no casualties among site personnel were immediately reported.
The attack knocked out electricity entirely across Al Managil and surrounding areas.
Simultaneously, in eastern Red Sea state, drones targeted fuel storage facilities and a pipeline running toward Bashayer, a key export terminal, witnesses in the town of Haya said.
The strikes mark an escalation in a week-long campaign targeting energy infrastructure in territory controlled by the Sudanese Armed Forces, with previous hits reported across Khartoum, White Nile, Gezira, Sennar, and Gedaref states.
Residents in Gedaref state said they observed multiple drones flying northeast on Tuesday over rural villages and near Wad Zayed airport in the El Shwak district.
Sudanese government sources have accused neighbouring Ethiopia of allowing drones to launch from its territory amid rising bilateral friction, a claim Addis Ababa has previously denied.
