October 28, KADUGLI, Sudan – At least eight women and children were injured on Wednesday during shelling targeting the southern Sudanese city of Kadugli, a regional health official said.
The acting director of South Kordofan state’s health ministry, Al-Nayer Nasaha Malaka, accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and an allied faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) of carrying out the attack against civilian areas.
A drone fired four missiles that struck an electricity station, a fuel depot, a local market, and the Al-Daraja Al-Thalitha residential neighbourhood, local sources said.
The medical director of Kadugli Hospital, Mohamed Al-Daw, confirmed the facility admitted several civilians wounded in the strikes, noting that some remained in critical condition while receiving emergency care.
The incident follows a broader escalation in drone strikes across Sudan this week targeting civilian infrastructure, including regional power stations that have triggered widespread blackouts in several states.
Kadugli has faced persistent blockades and repeated ground offensives during the conflict, with local authorities frequently reporting strikes on incoming aid convoys and supply routes.
The RSF and the SPLM-N could not immediately be reached for comment on the allegations.
