Sudanese army carries out fresh air attack in Blue Nile : SPLM-N

January 3, 2016 (KHARTOUM) – The rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLAM-N), has accused government army of violating the cessation of hostilities extended for an extra 30 days by President Omer al-Bashir.

“The Sudan Air Force has violated the ceasefire and bombarded villages and areas south of Al-Kurmuk town in the Blue Nile state,’’ said the SPLM-N spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, in a statement extended to Sudan Tribune on Sunday.

Lodi said that Sudanese warplanes on January 1 dropped 15 bombs on villages and areas near Al-Kurmuk town, Bule Nile State, burning 15 farms and killing a lot of livestock.

However, he did not mention any human casualties in his statement.

The spokesman of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) is so far unavailable for comment.

In an address on the occasion of the country’s independence day Thursday, President Bashir announced the extension of the ceasefire for 30 days.

In late September, al-Bashir had announced a two-month unilateral ceasefire and a general amnesty for armed elements who wish to join the National Dialogue Conference, in session here since October 10.
