Sudan to develop regional airports

KHARTOUM, June 19, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — Sudan’s Civil Aviation Authority has allocated a total $452 mln (373.3 mln euro) to finance the development and upgrade of the airports in the capital cities of the Sudanese states.

The authority has conducted studies for the upgrade of some 17 airports as part of its support to the development process in the country’s different states.

The Civil Aviation Authority has earmarked funds to finance some 23 projects at the Khartoum Airport in the Sudanese capital, the authority’s director Abu Bakr Jaafar said.

The projects include renovation works on the airport’s arrival and departure halls, as well as on the VIP hall.
