Sudan’s parliament speaker welcomes NDA MPs
Nov 29, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — The speaker of the Sudan’s National Assembly, Ahmed Ibrahim al-Taher (photo) welcomed the new MPs of the National Democratic Alliance who joined the Sudanese parliament as result of recent deal with the opposition alliance.
According to the agreement, the NDA has twenty MPs in the federal parliament.
A representative of the NDA MPs, Hassan Abu Sabeib said in speech before the National Assembly, that NDA MPs would do their best to help the realisation of peace in all the Sudan and to achieve democratisation of the country institutions.
He further said that they will work to protect the unity of Sudan.
The Sudanese President Omer al-Beshir appointed Sunday 27 November two ministers from the NDA in the government of National Unity and one state minister.
The Sudanese communist party, a member of the NDA, said it is opposed to the participation of the NDA in the government but it agreed its participation in the federal parliament.
