Darfur rebels say repelled Sudanese army attack
September 17, 2008 (ELFASHER) — Rebels say they repelled an important attack by Sudanese troops in northern Darfur and captured some of their weapons and vehicles on Wednesday.
Sudanese army carries out a military campaign indifferent area of Darfur against rebel positions. The military spokesperson indicated that they intend just to secure Darfur roads for humanitarian and peacekeeping operations and put and end to carjacking.
Sudan Liberation Army (SLA) fighters said more than one thundered army vehicles attacked their bases near Tawila, in North Darfur state, some 50 kilometres (30 miles) west of the state capital El-Fasher.
“We were fighting the government troops around Tawil for all the day,” said Ibrahim Al-Hillo, a commander from the SLA led by e Abdel Wahid Al-Nur. He also added that troops from the SLA-unity participated in the battles.
Mahgoub Hussein the spokesperson of the SLA-Unity confirmed the fierce fighting near Tawila adding they destroyed about 95 government vehicles and seized other 46 with heavy military material.
There was no confirmation from the Sudanese army about the fighting also, the hybrid peacekeeping force said they were prevented from entering the area by the Sudanese army.
This is the first time that SLA rebels from Abdel Wahid Al-Nur and Abdallah Yahia groups fight together against the Sudanese army in the war torn region.
The previous attacks since last month the army forced the rebels to move from their positions like Disa and Bir Meza.
According to the UN estimations around 300,000 people were killed in five year conflict. more than 2,2 million fled their homes since the conflict erupted in February 2003. Sudan says 10,000 have been killed.

Bravoo SLA, you have done well and they enemy have learnt an unforgettable lesson over the last five years. Al Bashir soldiers are finishing and there will be one day that you will enter Khartoum with buggles blowing in unison to mark the end of Arab rules in Sudan.

Bashir wages hot and hard war in Southern Sudan because he recruit young Darfurian men now is the time to show him that you are still damn good fighters, the way African should be.
Little advise to young Mujadeen who are now dying in the name of oil in Darfur. It would be better to defect to SPLM in order to survive or be finish by gluttonous Bashir, Taha and Turabi greed’s.
