Germany, Italy ready to open new businesses in Sudan

February 5, 2014 (KHARTOUM) – The envoys of Germany and Italy to Khartoum have described Sudan as a safe nation and said their countries are ready to open new businesses in Sudan.

The Sudanese capital, Khartoum is hosting the 31st IFK session between January 30th and February 6th under the auspices of the Sudanese president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir and with the participation of 14 countries and several local and international companies.

The German ambassador to Khartoum, Rolf Welberts, said more than 30 German companies have participated in the IFK, announcing the arrival of a German delegation in early March to establish businesses in Sudan.

The head of the European Union (EU) delegation to Sudan, Tomas Ulicny, said in a press statement to the Sudan’s official news agency (SUNA) that he visited the IFK and described it as “distinct”.

Ulicny called for organizing workshops to restore economic trust between Sudan and the EU, adding that his duty is to develop ties between Sudan and the EU.

The European official pointed the private sector is most familiar with the security situation, stability, and the level of trust necessary for trade exchange, stressing that the participation of the EU in the IFK is the best evidence for stable security situation in Sudan.

The EU ambassadors during their visit to the IKF on Wednesday praised the organization and expressed admiration for various Sudanese cultural and commodity presentations.

They also hailed the participation of the EU countries in the IKF, pointing that it supports economic cooperation between Sudan and the EU.
