Upper Nile state passes its annual budget

December 5, 2014 (MALAKAL) – Lawmakers in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state on Friday unanimously passed their annual budget of 74, 2907,638 South Sudanese Pounds.

The state finance minister, Ayong Awer Lual, said 26 lawmakers approved the budget.

Education was prioritised with 11% allocation, health 7% while 39% was given to the 13 counties. The state ministries and others commission were allocated 43% of the budget.

Lual said plans were underway to recruit three medical consultants, 13 specialised medical practitioners and 39 general physicians, all earmarked for attractive salaries.
