Sudanese army continues air raids in South Kordofan: SPLM-N rebels

September 30, 2015 (KHARTOUM) – The rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) said the Sudanese army continues to bomb its positions in the South Kordofan state after the presidential decree of a two month ceasefire .

“On 24/09/015 NCP air force antinov plane dropped 10 bombs on Allobu and Tablo
villages in Umdorain County destroying many farms,” said SPLM-N spokesperson in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Arnu Ngutulu Lodi further said they Sudanese artillery in the state capital Kadugli fired 20 rockets on Umserdiba and Alnugra villages On 25 September, adding the attack wounded two civilians in Alnugra and damaged several farms.

Lodi pointed that the government army launched a mortar attack on Umserdiba for the second tile on 29 September.

Last Friday, the rebel group accused the Sudanese government army of carrying out air raids on a number of villages in the Blue Nile state, adding that a girl child was killed during the attack of 25 September.

President Omer al-Bashir announced a two-month ceasefire to create a conducive environment for the national dialogue conference which is scheduled for 10 October.

Also, three rebel groups member of the rebel alliance Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) including the SPLM-N announced its readiness for a six-month cessation of hostilities.

The US State Department called on the Sudanese warring parties to “commit to a six-month cessation of hostilities and to begin working in earnest to turn these announcements into a sustainable end to Sudan’s conflicts”.
