Professor Akolda, it is too early for you to go
I learnt from social media of the untimely departure of Professor Akolda Maan Tier on the 30th Nov 2015, whom I knew and admired, as one of the great, committed sons of both Sudans, who dedicated himself to teaching generations of law students, since he graduate from Khartoum university in 1968, and completed his studies in the best universities, devoting his knowledge to his fellow Sudanese citizens, as well as outside of Sudan.
I have the honour of having worked with him closely in the National Constitutional Review Commission in 2005, that worked out the interim constitutions of 2005, to which I was co-spokesperson. He was a dedicated, humble and committed intellectual. His profession always came before politics, and he was a non-tribalist. He had truly enjoyed the respect of Sudanese in both Sudans. He is one of the professionals and intellectuals that South Sudan needs at this time and it was early for him to go, but that was God’s plan. My warm condolences to his family, relatives and friends .
May God rest his soul in peace. Ameen.
