Sudan’s Taha stresses commitment to work with SPLM

JUBA, Aug 9, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The Second Vice-President, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, has reiterated the government’s commitment to cooperate with Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) and all the other political forces in Sudan for realization of stability and development.

A_Osman_M_Taha.jpgAddressing the leaders of the SPLM, Taha said that political consultations are continuing in Khartoum in the context of the partnership between the ruling National Congress, the SPLM, and other political forces.

He said that the arrival of Lt-Gen Salva Kiir in Khartoum will speed up the consultations to establish the government institutions as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the Vice-President called on the traders and craftsmen to surpass the bitterness and to cooperate for normalization of life in Juba.

He said that the federal government will extend every possible support to enhance the food situation in Juba city.

Taha said that the federal government will cooperate with the government of Bahr al-Jabal State and its supervisor toward enhancing the conditions of the traders whose properties were destroyed and looted, and to compensate them so as to resume their activity and to contribute to the economic development, together with their southern brothers in south Sudan.

He stressed that the partnership shall not be confined to the political and executive institutions, but should expand to include all the political, economic, security, sports and social activities.
