Sudan asks UK for information regarding arrests of Sudanese

Mustafa_Osman_Ismail.jpgKHARTOUM, Aug 9, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The Sudanese Foreign Minister has asked the British ambassador in Khartoum to supply Sudan with more information regarding the arrest of three Sudanese in Britain.

In a news conference, the Foreign Minister, Mustafa Osman Ismail, said that reports from the Sudanese embassy in London indicate that the accusations against the Sudanese resulted from their ties with one of the suspects accused of the recent bombings.

According to the Official SUNA, Ismail said that the wife of one of the suspects, who was arrested following the bombings, was related to the wife of one of the three Sudanese, hence, the accusations were a smokescreen with regard to either the information or the person.

However, to date, this accusation has had no direct link with the bombing, although the accusation of three is a smokescreen.

The case is still under investigation.
