Sudanese Ummah party plans to meet First VP Kiir

KHARTOUM, Aug 15, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The Ummah Party (UP) of Al-Sadiq al-Mahdi has revealed that direct talks will be held with the leader of the SPLM, first vice-president, Lt-Gen Salva Kiir Mayar Dit and the leadership of the SPLM.

In a statement to the pro-governmental news service SMC, the Secretary general of the UP Abdelnabi Ali Ahmad, said the talks will touch on a number of national issues, the requirements for a comprehensive peace and democratic transformation.

In this regard, he pointed out what he referred to as deep-rooted ties between the two sides in the framework of cooperation.

He also pointed out the differences in the points of views of the UP and the SPLM regarding the governing mechanisms in the peace agreement.
