Preparatory meeting for Sudan’s Darfur talks in Dar es Salaam

Aug 20, 2005 (Dar es Salaam) — The preparatory meeting for the Abuja talks will today start in the Tanzanian capital, Dar es Salaam. The meeting was recommended by the AU in preparation for the sixth session of the Abuja talks between the Sudanese government and the Darfur rebels.

Head of the Sudanese delegation at the Abuja talks Majdhub al-Khalifah said the meeting was aimed at achieving a rapprochement of views between the warring parties before the resumption of talks in Abuja.
