Eritrean Liberation Front concludes meeting, issues communique

Aug 27, 2005 (Khartoum) — The 7th Conference of the Eritrean Liberation Front (ELF) concluded its sessions Friday [26 August ] and issued a final communique, which affirms the necessity of activating the ELF institutions to establish a democratic government in Eritrea, based on peaceful transition of power, freedoms, justice and development.

The Communique hailed the achievement of peace in Sudan, praising the efforts of the Sudanese government and people in hosting the Eritrean people.

The Statement further commended the steadfast of the Eritrean people in the face of the Eritrean regime which transformed Eritrea into a huge prison, urging the UN to intervene in order to guarantee the rights of the Eritrean citizens.

Meanwhile, the first deputy chairman of the conference, Husayn Khalifah, affirmed the importance of the unifying the ranks of the Eritrean opposition in order to topple the regime of the Eritrean dictatorship.
