Ex-rebel movement concludes political consultations

Aug 27, 2005 (Khartoum) — First Vice-President of the Republic and President of government of Southern Sudan, Lt-Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit, said that the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) has completed its consultations on its participation in the government of national unity, the National Assembly and Councils of the States.

This came in a press statement by Lt-Gen Mayardit, at Khartoum airport after a tour to south Sudan.

Lt-Gen Mayardit pointed out that the SPLM had completed its consultations in Juba on its participation in the institutions of the interim period, explaining that he is going to make consultations with the president of the Republic on, what was agreed upon by SPLM.

Lt- Gen Mayardit pointed out that the government of southern Sudan would be formed after formation of the national unity government.
