Sudan, Chad to discuss means to defuse crisis

Dec 3, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — A delegation from Sudan’s ruling National Congress (NC) will this week visit the Chadian capital, Ndjamena,
following an invitation by the secretary-general of the Chadian ruling National Patriotic Movement, Mohamat Hussein.

This visit comes in light of the joint efforts and contacts between the two parties to defuse the present crisis.

In a press statement, an official from the African bureau at the NC Hassan Barqu said the secretary general of the Chadian ruling party had expressed the will of Chadian President Idriss Deby and the ruling party to defuse the present crisis.

He further said that Chadian officials support the joint communique recently signed in Khartoum between the Chadian ruling party and the NC.

Barqu said he hoped this visit would help strengthen the bilateral ties that should not be affected by temporary events.
