Kenyan peace envoy arrives in Khartoum

KHARTOUM, Nov. 11, 2003 — Kenyan peace envoy to Sudan Gen Lazarus Sumbeiywo arrived this evening.
In a statement to the press upon arrival, he said his visit was aimed at finding out the view of the government side and bring closer the viewpoints of the government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement on issues that had been proposed in the last round of [peace] talks.
The Kenyan peace envoy said he had no new ideas or proposals and hoped the two sides would reach an agreement in the next round of talks.
He said during his three-day visit he would meet officials from the government side
