African leaders back Sudan’s stance on Darfur

Sept10, 2006 (SERTE) — African leaders reaffirmed their rejection of the internationalization of Drafur crisis. They also appealed the African Union to continue its effort in Darfur peace process.

The African heads of state and government have renewed their total rejection to the internationalization of the crisis in Darfur and affirmed their support to Sudan’s stance rejecting UN force into Darfur without its consent.

The African leaders praised Abuja peace and reconciliation agreement on Darfur.

The African leaders called on the African Union to continue these efforts till completion of the peaceful settlement of Darfur crisis.

They expressed appreciation to the Libyan Leader, Muammar Gadhafi, patron of Sahel and Sahara Community (SEN-SAD) over his distinguished efforts in resolving Darfur problem and his active role in restoration of relations between Sudan and Chad.

They also urged leaders of the two countries to implement Tripoli Declaration, affirming that the Africans themselves should solve African problems.

The African leaders said that the intervention of the international forces in Darfur without consent of the Sudanese government poses a threat to security and peace in Africa and in the World.

The African leaders affirmed in the communiqué that they would spare no effort in realizing peace in all parts of the African continent.
